If you believe the whispers then it is believed that Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is expected to retire in the summer of 2014.
Everton manager David Moyes has been linked with taking over the reigns from Fergie for sometime but could this be the reason he's delaying signing his contract?
Barring any major interest in the summer of 2013 then I believe Moyes will sign a one year rolling deal possibly as late as July 2013 which could open the door for a move to Manchester the following summer.
A lot could depend on on Everton's progress within that time both on the pitch and off it. Champions League football could be the catalyst to reignite Moyes passion or perhaps just one final jolly on his swansong as the Blues manager.
The uncertainty certainly perhaps unknowingly seems to be affecting the atmosphere around Goodison Park very slightly at the moment despite playing some of the best football generations of Evertonian's have seen whilst also feeling peeved that we haven't got more from the season so far!
I love Moyes and he gets Everton and he know what were all about, he knows what is needed and I don't think there is a better manager in the league. We are very lucky to have him.
Over the past year or so though Moyes has become increasingly frustrated by the lack of resources available to him but he has secretly liked it too in a funny sort of way.
Moyes has said on numerous occasions that it wont take a vast quantity of money to take Everton to the next level, the only question remains is whether Moyes has the enthusiasm to do this or is he ready for a new challenge.
Not many eyebrows were raised in the summer when Moyes was linked with Tottenham and at one point it seemed like a move may be in the pipeline, The Glaswegian didn't exactly pour cold water on the speculation like he might have done a few years back which was worrying but sadly understandable.
I think most Evertonian's reluctantly wouldn't stand in Moyes way should he choose to go to Man Utd but at the moment it just seems like a long goodbye.
If he was to go then it would be nice to appoint a new manager from within and keep the same kind of philosophy going. Experience will dictate the decision over who will take over, however laugh all you want but it will be hard to look past a certain Duncan Ferguson! There I've said it!
