He has obviously done enough to impress the manager and when you take into account the threadbare squad we currently have then it seems like we've done a decent deal getting him albeit on a short term basis.
Against Reading was the first proper look we've had at him really and he didn't disappoint, playing in a more holding midfield position than he maybe used to he looked a like for like replacement for the injured Phil Neville.
Neville's attitude on and off the pitch for Everton has been second to none and even when he's not playing it's nice to have that kind of character around the dressing room.
However Hitzlsperger offers something Neville doesn't and that's being able to have the odd surge forward and having a pop at goal every now and again.
He's also defensively minded too and like Phil Neville is comfortable with his left foot and is very versatile able to play in Defence as well if needed.
At Reading we saw a taste of what "The Hammer" as he's affectionately known is capable of and if we can keep him fit (and that's a big if!) then I personally think Moyes has pulled off another master stoke even if his hand may have been forced through injuries etc.
