We Love You Everton Season Review 2011-12

We Love You Everton's Player Of The Season 2011-12
1. Johnny Heitinga
Came in at centre back when Jagielka was injured and made the position his own. Johnny has been consistent all season and has managed to change fans perception of him and the manager’s too maybe! Only just pipped Bainesy to the post!

Others Who Came Close
2.      Leighton Baines – Baines was voted into the PFA Team of the season and played for England pushing Chelsea’s Ashley Cole for a starting place in the national team. Thrived even more down the left hand side of the pitch since the return of Steven Pienaar. Baines has delivered some excellent set pieces, scoring from a few too!
3.      Marouane Fellaini
4.      Sylvain Distin
5.      Nikica Jelavic

Everton's Final League Position: 7th
The best we probably could of hoped for with our resources

FA Cup Progress:
 Semi Final
Disappointing to loose the way we did after a good cup run

League Cup Progress:
 4th Round
Unlucky to loose at home to Chelsea and this is a cup we could really do well in next season

Young Player of the Season: Apostolos Vellios, Best of a small bunch of young players to break into first team squad. Vellios had a very good start to the season and then we heard very little about him for the rest of it!

Goal of the Season: Nikica Jelavic vs Tottenham (H)

Best Match of the Season: Sunderland (A) in the FA Cup, after a long trip to the North East the Everton fans were fantastic that night!

Worst Match of the Season: Liverpool in the FA Cup semi final, It all started so good and then we were beat by the worst Liverpool team I’ve seen in my lifetime.

Song of the Season: Jela, Jelavic… (Nikica Jelavic) Song was christened by the fans in Sunderland!

Save of the season: Tim Howard vs Fulham (H)

Signing of the Season: Nikica Jelavic has been an excellent signing from cash strapped Rangers, exactly what Everton needed. All teams need a goal-scorer though suppose!

The Deadwood: It's perhaps a little unfair to criticise the Frenchman but Magaye Gueye simply hasn’t cut it for Everton yet despite a decent performance away at Sunderland.

Shock Of The Season: Jose Baxter possibly getting a new long term deal despite doing relatively little when he's been given the chance. Moyes has obviously seen something in the youngster and lets all hope he's right!

Hopes For The Summer: Signing Pienaar is seen as the priority aswell as keeping the current squad together. Apart from that in the realms of fantasy bringing in a top quality midfielder such as Clint Dempsey would be an added bonus!

Mistake Of The Season: Unfortunately David Moyes's gamble fielding a weakened team at Anfield and resting players for the Sunderland cup game never really paid off in the end.

Positives
  • Looks like we’ve found a proper goal-scorer at long last
  • Finishing above Liverpool in the league table
  • Unearthed hidden gem in Darron Gibson from Man Utd
  • We didn’t get beat at Old Trafford!
  • Big Dunc back behind scenes

Negatives
  • Lost 3 times against Liverpool including Wembley
  • We still haven’t found much needed investment
  • No progress on projects such as the Park End development
  • No news on potential redevelopment or new stadium
  • We didn’t really get going till New Year as usual!
  • The worry that we may have to sell a player or two in the summer
