John Stones joined Everton from Barnsley on 31 January 2013 for a reported fee of £3 million although Everton's initial outlay could be considerably less.

Stones came through the Barnsley youth setup and between 2011 and 2013 he made 24 first team appearances for the Yorkshire club.

Barnsley fans were sad to see the youngster leave and hoped he may return on loan but were left disappointed as Everton manager David Moyes kept him at Goodison where he was on the fringes of the first team for much of the remainder of the season.

He has also represented England at youth level and although bought as a right back most believed his future would lie as a centre back.

Stones has played as a centre back on several occasions for the reserves during the 2012-13 season.

He forced his way into the team ahead of experienced defenders such as Antolin Alcaraz and Sylvain Distin.

Stones impressed during the 2014-15 season and formed an impressive defensive partnership with Captain Phil Jagielka.

His performances earnt Stones a call up to the England international team and his form was starting to earn unwanted attention from potential suitors for Stones, most notably Chelsea.

Chelsea bid several times for Stones during the summer of 2015 much to the annoyance of manager Roberto Martinez who had issued a firm hands off warning to Chelsea.

Romelu Menama Lukaku is a Belgian footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Everton on loan from Chelsea and the Belgium national team.

He started his career with local side Rupel Boom, before being scouted and joining Lierse.

He played well and attracted many clubs to his talents. He alerted Anderlecht and signed for the Belgian Pro League side in 2006.

Lukaku continued his development with Anderlecht and made his professional debut while still at school at the age of 16.

During his time at Anderlecht, he was dubbed as the "new Didier Drogba," the player whom he idolized growing up.

James McCarthy is a professional footballer who plays for Everton as a midfielder.

McCarthy made over 100 appearances for Hamilton Academical as a teenager, before being transferred to Wigan in 2009 for an initial £1.2 million.

Although born in Scotland, McCarthy made his competitive debut for the Republic of Ireland on 26 March 2011 in a UEFA Euro 2012 qualifier against Macedonia.

McCarthy was linked with a move to Everton for most of the summer of 2013, however Everton were reluctant to meet Wigan's asking price and any possible deal looked doomed.

Gerard Deulofeu is an attacking midfielder who is currently on loan at Everton from Spanish club Barcelona. 

Deulofeu joined the Barca academy at just nine years old and was quick to move up through the youth levels and even made his Barca B debut when he was still officially a junior player!

The young Spaniard scored 18 goals during the 2012-13 season for Barcelona B and has signed a contract keeping him at the Catalan side until 2017.

Deulofeu can also play as a forward but is probably more comfortable as a winger or attacking midfielder and he will remain at Everton on loan until the summer of 2014.

After starting at amateur football in his country, the 19-year-old moved to Argentina and signed with Racing Club de Avellaneda, appearing rarely during his spell.

In 2002 he was loaned to ACF Fiorentina, but the Italians soon faced bankruptcy and regrouped in the fourth division; he then had a trial at U.S. Città di Palermo, but nothing came of it.

In January 2003, Alcaraz signed for Portuguese club S.C. Beira-Mar. After seven appearances in half a season he became a defensive mainstay at the top division team, eventually also gaining club captaincy; in 2005–06 he helped the Aveiro outfit return to the top flight, playing 31 matches.

On 30 April 2007 Alcaraz was signed by Club Brugge in Belgium, with the deal being effective as of July. After a slow first season he also eventually became first-choice, helping his team to two third-places and one second.

On 14 May 2010 Alcaraz signed with Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee, as his contract with Brugge was due to expire at the end of June. He scored his first goal for the club against Sunderland on 11 September 2010, netting in the 86th minute for an eventual 1–1 home draw.

On 6 November 2011, Alcaraz caused widespread controversy when replays showed him spitting at Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Richard Stearman during Wigan's 1–3 defeat at Molineux Stadium, and served a three-game suspension due to his actions. He later issued an apology.

On 7 May 2012 Alcaraz scored the game's only goal at Blackburn Rovers to retain the Latics' top division safety, whilst relegating their opponent to the Football League Championship.

Alcaraz played the full 90 minutes of the 2013 FA Cup, as Wigan caused a 1–0 upset against Manchester City. Three days later he played as Wigan were relegated from the top division following a 1–4 defeat at Arsenal. At the end of the season his contract expired and he became a free agent.

Joel started his professional career at Atlético Madrid, initially in the C team in 2008, before progressing into the B team a year later. 

He made 28 league appearances for Atlético B during the 2009-10 season, before being promoted into the senior squad.

Having been used sparingly in the 2011-12 season, he moved on loan to Rayo Vallecano in January 2012, making 13 league appearances.

Arouna Koné signed for Everton on 8 July 2013. Everton officials confirmed the Ivorian striker had joined on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Koné made his name at PSV in Holland where he formed a formidable strike partnership with Jefferson Farfán.

In 2007 he moved to Spain to play for Sevilla for a fee of around £12 million. Middlesbrough had been favourites to land the striker but the Spaniards came in at the eleventh hour.

The striker hardly scored any goals for Sevilla, however this was partly due to off the field problems which saw he subsequently loaned out to German club Hannover 96 and then fellow Spanish side Levante.

Whilst on loan at Levante Koné was scoring every other game which was starting to alert some of Europes bigger teams.

Koné went on to sign for Levante permantly, however the Spanish club were keen to sell him on at a hefty fee.

On 14 August 2012, Koné signed a three-year contract with Premier League side Wigan Athletic, for a reported fee of €3.5 million.

With Wigan, Koné won the FA Cup, featuring the full 90 minutes in the 1–0 upset against Manchester City. However, only three days later, Wigan were relegated from the top division following a 1–4 defeat at Arsenal.

Koné now moves to Everton hoping to at least equal his tally of 11 Premier League goals that he managed for Wigan, and if he does then he could well end up being what we've all been longing for. A striker that scores goals!

Striker Chris has been at Everton since a very young age.

Having worked his way through each age group at the Blues' Academy, Chris made a handful of appearances for Neil Dewsnip's Under-18s side in 2011.

He then made his reserve-team breakthrough during the 2011/12 campaign, appearing more and more frequently as the season progressed.

He proved to be a big crowd favourite at Olympiakos and scored some important goals for the Greek side who moved quick to sign him permanently in the summer of 2011.

The following season Mirallas impressed again finishing top goalscorer for the Greeks helping them win the league and he was also named Belgium footballer of the year.

Mirallas signed for Everton in August 2012 after we beat off rumoured competition for his signature from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.

Marouane Fellaini told Mirallas that Everton was a big family club and he believed his fellow Belgium would settle in quickly to life on Merseyside.

Naismith started out at Rangers a a youngster but it was with Kilmarnock that he first signed professionally with in 2002.

Rangers reportedly had an offer rejected by Kilmarnock and at one point it looked like Celtic may have come in and beat their Glasgow rivals to the players signature.

Rangers eventually did manage to sign him though and he went on to score 28 goals in 98 appearances for the Scottish giants.

During his time at Rangers he linked up terrifically well with Nikica Jelavic and hopefully their partnership will thrive again now the Scot is at Goodison.
